The Automotive Industry Institute PIMOT® was found by Polish Council of Ministers in 1972, as the automotive industry Research and Development unit.

PIMOT`s lines of activity cover scientific, R&D works and automotive products testing services. Institute is a separate and independent unit. It makes an unquestionable basic for impartiality of its opinion and test result obtained.

Activities of Laboratory apply to:
  • Designing of specialist research equipment for laboratories.
  • Developing of new research and measuring techniques.
  • Testing and effectiveness assessment of anti-theft vehicle protection systems.
  • Testing of electrical and electronic equipment and accessories of vehicles.
  • Testing of electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Periodical validation of automotive electrical and electronic equipment.
 
 Basic measuring and research equipment of the Laboratory:
  • Sets of test stands for specialized tests of automotive electrical and electronic equipment.

The Laboratory is capable to carry out environmental tests of automotive electrical and electronic products in conditions corresponding to those likely to occur in actual service. In particular, tests may be carried out to assess product susceptibility to such factors as:

  • low and high temperatures;
  • humidity, rainfall;
  • dust and vibrations.

Accreditation Certificate No. AB 082 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) within the scope of:

  • Electrical and electronic accessories of automotive vehicles and components thereof ? anti-theft devices (alarm, vehicle location, and immobiliser systems);
  • Electrical and electronic ignition systems for IC engines ? spark plugs;
  • Electrical and electronic equipment supplied with power from a cigarette lighter or equivalent socket;
  • Electrical and electronic systems of automotive vehicles;
  • Automotive vehicles used for money transport purposes ? vehicles of categories M1, N1, N2, and armoured bank vehicles.

The Laboratory is authorized by the Ministry of Transport to carry out the following tests and assessments:

  • Type-approval tests for conformity with UN-ECE Regulation No. 10 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to electromagnetic compatibility.'
  • Type-approval tests for conformity with UN-ECE Regulation No. 97 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicle alarm systems (VAS) and of motor vehicles with regard to their alarm systems (AS).'
  • Type-approval tests for conformity with UN-ECE Regulation No. 18 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their protection against unauthorized use.'
  • Type-approval tests for conformity with UN-ECE Regulation No. 62 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of power-driven vehicles with handlebars with regard to their protection against unauthorized use.'
  • Tests of electronic alarm systems and immobilisers.
