Head-on crash in PIMOT
A few days ago we was carrying out a head on crash test of two moving vehicles. One of them was sport utility vehicle (SUV), second was a car.
Both cars were moving with the same speed - 44 km/h. In this crash were used four dummies. Inside Suzuki Swift was one dummy weighting 76 kg. In Toyota Rav 4 there were 2 adults dummies weighting 76 kg. On the back seat of the car we sat down the child, correctly done up in the small baby chair of the safety. The child was weighting 15 kg (it’s a weight of three-year child).
It was a purpose of the test the examination of the impact of powers working on the man during road traffic accidents, examining deformations of structural members of vehicles and keeping them during a head-on collision.
Used cars for experiment different in size and mass. With effect of it there is a significant difference in damage to vehicles and in injuries of passengers. Passengers of the bigger vehicle sustained smaller injuries in comparing with passengers of the smaller one. Deformations of the small vehicle are more extensive what is being transferred into injuries of persons travelling by it. Passengers of both vehicles were done up with belts, and the child was transported in the small baby chair. Doing up a belt, as well as correct transporting children in cars, has an essential impact on safety. The conducted attempt proved, that observing safety rules, i.e. using protection devices by children and adults, is lengthening the odds much for surviving accidents.
This demonstration shows, that respecting safety procedures (using safe belts and carrying children in the child seat), increases a chance to pass through a collision.
