The Laboratory carries out tests of the following product groups:

  • Automotive air compressors;
  • Components of pneumatic braking systems of automotive vehicles and trailers;
  • Components of hydraulic braking systems of automotive vehicles;
  • Coupling parts and complete metal pipes of pneumatic braking systems;
  • Moreover, the Laboratory offers the following services:

    • Designing and making of diagnostic kits to check the operation of pneumatic braking systems.
    • Designing and making of test, quality inspection, and acceptance inspection stands adapted for service in production lines and at test stations.
    • Developing of technical specifications and standards applicable to braking systems and vehicle braking performance.
    • Giving of opinions on improvement proposals related to braking systems.
    • Organizing of training courses to familiarize the personnel of diagnostic stations, garages, and service workshops with the most recent designs of pneumatic braking systems and components thereof.
    • Issuing of experts’ opinions related to vehicle braking systems and phenomena, including opinions commissioned by penal prosecution authorities and the administration of justice.

Basic measuring and research equipment of the Laboratory:

  • Computer-based field testing kit for automotive vehicles and trailers, with a Correvit LM measuring head and brake pedal effort meter;
  • Strain-gauge type towing eye attachment, used e.g. to measure the force occurring between tractor and trailer;
  • Flywheel dynamometric stand, used e.g. to test replacement brake shoe assemblies and replacement brake shoe linings;
  • WABCO diagnostic kit for the inspection of ABS systems;
  • Thermal chamber of 1 m3 capacity with force, displacement, and pressure sensors;
  • Test stands for the testing of components of pneumatic and hydraulic braking systems;
  • CTU - Production Conformity Test Unit WABCO

The Laboratory is authorized by the Ministry of Transport to carry out type-approval tests for conformity with the following UN-ECE Regulations and EU Directives:

  • UN-ECE Regulation No. 13 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles of categories M, N and O with regard to braking';
  • UN-ECE Regulation No. 13 H 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of passenger cars with regard to braking';
  • UN-ECE Regulation No. 78 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles of category L with regard to braking';
  • UN-ECE Regulation No. 90 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of replacement brake lining assemblies and drum brake linings for power-driven vehicles and their trailers';
  • Directive 71/320/EEC - Braking devices of certain categories of motor vehicles and their trailers;
  • Directive 93/14/EEC - Braking of two or three-wheel motor vehicles;
  • Directive 76/432/EEC - Braking devices.

Accreditation Certificate No. AB 082 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) within the scope of:

  • Testing of automotive vehicle and trailer braking systems and components thereof.
