The Automotive Industry Institute PIMOT® was found by Polish Council of Ministers in 1972, as the automotive industry Research and Development unit.

PIMOT`s lines of activity cover scientific, R&D works and automotive products testing services. Institute is a separate and independent unit. It makes an unquestionable basic for impartiality of its opinion and test result obtained.

Activities of Laboratory apply to:

  • Measuring of geometrical dimensions of automotive component parts and assemblies to check their conformity with engineering design applicable standard specifications;
  • Measuring of geometrical errors of any type and surface finish (roughness) characteristics;
  • Periodical inspection of length and angle measuring instruments.
Moreover, the Department cooperates with other PIMOT Laboratories within the scope of:
  • Purchasing, operating, servicing, tracing, and checking measuring and research equipment.

Accreditation Certificate No. AB 082 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) within the scope of:

  • Carrying out of tests to measure:.
    • longitudinal dimensions, arc contours, and angular dimensions of parts;
    • geometrical errors
      • for products made of metallic materials, rubber, and plastics, especially parts of automotive component assemblies;
    • surface roughness
      • for products made of metallic materials, especially parts of automotive component assemblies;
    • thread profiles and dimensions
      • for screw joints.
