GTEM 1000 CELL for testing the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronic equipment

EMC/ESD measuring equipment possessed by the Laboratory, with the following equipment specifications:

1.  GTEM 1000 measuring cell (manufactured by Schaffner):

–   Working frequency range: 20 kHz to 18 000 Mhz (measurements possible within a range from 20 MHz to 2.0 GHz)

–   Power capacity

•   Lower band power amplifier (from 20 MHz to 1.0 GHz): 550 W

•   Upper band power amplifier (from 1.0 GHz to 2.0 GHz): 150 W

–   Nominal impedance: 50 ohm

–   Defined test volume: 0.6 × 0.6 × 0.3 m

–   Maximum possible test volume (for engineer’s measurements): 0.74 × 0.74 × 0.66 m

–   Cell calibration in a measuring chain: generator, amplifiers, cell incorporated in the measuring chain having been set up to Directive 2004/104/EC (concerning motor vehicles), within a frequency range from 20 MHZ to 2 000 MHz

2.  Schaffner NSG 5500/5600 modular systemfor the immunity testing of electronic component assemblies and parts of automotive vehicles for conformity with the requirements of standard ISO 7637-2:2004. According to this standard, 5 basic pulse types (1, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4, 5a, and 5b) are used for the EMC testing of automotive vehicles. The system makes it also possible to carry out tests to requirements of selected automotive equipment manufacturers.

3. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) testerPESD 3010 (manufactured by Haefely), capable to generate electrostatic discharges (in both air discharge and contact discharge modes) at a voltage ranging from 1 kV to 30 kV (with 100 V increment step). The instrument is suitable for testing automotive and general-purpose products. The contact discharge rates are: single, 0.1, 0.2, 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 Hz. The discharge rise time in the contact discharge mode is 0.7 to 1.0 ns. The instrument meets the ESD test requirements specified in standard IEC/EN 61000-4-2.
